Shows only the text, without ads or images. Paragraphs are highlighted one by one at reading pace, and you can change the speed or download the article as a text file.
Makes the text larger and the colors sharper. Choose from three sizes (small, medium, large); the setting is remembered in this browser and carries over to other articles.
Select a sentence in the article by dragging (or long-pressing on a phone) and a toolbar appears. Signed in, you can save it to My highlights and add a note; anyone can copy a link that points straight to that sentence. Sentences saved by two or more readers are collected under Popular highlights at the end of the article.
While you read, a bar appears at the bottom of the screen so you can open reading tools such as text view and large text, or share, like and comment, without scrolling back up. It steps aside at the start and the end of the article.
Each article states how it was made and checked, and how to cite it.
The verification box under each article explains how it was checked, such as human review, figures corrected against source data and AI cross-checking of translations.
Check the reuse terms under each article and use Copy citation to copy a citation that credits the source. We welcome search indexing and AI citation with attribution.
When a link in an article leads to another site, we tell you where it goes before you leave.
